At the recent staging of REHACARE 2019, International Trade fair for Rehabilitation and Care, in Düsseldorf, Germany, 38,600 visitors gained information from 751 exhibitors from 43 countries about aids to make life easier for people with disabilities, requiring care and senior citizens. Self-help groups, social associations and political representatives discussed current disability and health policy issues.
“REHACARE contributes significantly to securing independence and ensuring greater inclusion in daily life, care and the working world.
"As always, REHACARE's product range has set standards in terms of internationality. More than two thirds of the exhibitors came from abroad. An exciting mixture of medium-sized companies, dynamic inventors and company founders convinced the visitors with innovative solutions for almost every area of life and every disability. Exhibitors presented products that are already available on the market as well as prototypes that will soon be ready for market,” said Wolfram N. Diener, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf.
Dr. Martin Danner, Managing Director of BAG SELBSTHILFE (National Association for Personal Autonomous Development), added: “REHACARE 2019 is an information platform that provided concentrated knowledge to those affected and showcased impressive innovations. We welcomed experts from every field of health care at our association’s stand. People with disabilities and their families used the opportunity to exchange experiences with the self-help groups that were present at the trade fair, to ask questions about the provision of aids and to be inspired by the diversity of the range of products at the trade fair".
This year, an important topic was how digitalization will change self-help and how it can contribute to optimizing information and communication processes. “If we want to successfully guide self-help towards the future, we have to face these questions and develop new concepts. In the course of this, we can benefit from the expertise of the REHACARE exhibitors and the innovations and solutions that they offer,” commented Dr. Danner.
The REHACARE visitors travelled to Düsseldorf from 80 countries and were particularly interested in mobility aids and devices for daily use, aids for people with sensory disabilities as well as smart communication software and hardware.
Exhibitors were pleased with their participation and the quality of the visitors. Klaus Gierse, Managing Director of moso Motion Solutions GmbH: “We are delighted. We were able to reach people seeking aids, cost bearers and industry experts, which basically means every target group that is relevant for our company. Our presence at the trade fair provides us with orders for an entire year.”
“We have come to REHACARE in Düsseldorf to position our products in the German and European markets and to find distribution partners,” said Young-Sik Kim, Executive Principal of the National Information Society Service (NIA) in Korea. Young-Sik Kim organized the participation for five small and medium-sized companies offering inclusive solutions for people with visual and hearing impairments. “This is our second time in Düsseldorf. Our experience proves that this trade fair offers great opportunities to successfully present intelligent aids to international industry experts and buyers.”
The lectures and panel discussions at TREFFPUNKT REHACARE met with great interest. 250 visitors came to the opening of the trade fair on Wednesday to learn about the opportunities and limits of digitalization in care/nursing. The concept of the new forum Products&News@rehacare, bringing innovations from the stands to the stage, was also well received.
The second M-Enabling Forum Europe, promoting digital and accessible information and communication technologies, was also successful. Regine Gessner, Managing Director Europe of forum host E.J. Krause & Associates, remarked: “With 180 participants, we have increased the numbers and we were also able to substantially expand our internationality. We had a lively event with committed speakers and conference participants, who had intensive discussions and used the opportunity to network. Many sponsors and exhibitors are already thinking about participating again next year.” The third M-Enabling Forum Europe will take place on September 24, 2020, during REHACARE.
The organizers of the 15th MCC RehaForum can look back on a successful event as well. On September 19 and 20, 100 industry experts discussed economical and technological developments on the rehabilitation market as well as the current political framework conditions.
The activities of the Disability and Rehabilitation Sports Association of North Rhine Westphalia drew thousands of visitors to the Sports Center in Hall 7a. On all four days of the trade fair, people with disabilities, care givers and school classes experienced the diverse range of options for people with and without disabilities.
