At the recent staging of MEDICAL FAIR INDIA in Mumbai, 280 exhibitors from 20 countries showcased their innovations on 53,800 square feet of exhibit space to 8,700 trade visitors. With the motto “Smart Hospital”, the 26th edition particularly focused on new digital and mobile healthcare technologies. The Coronavirus pandemic and its global effects were an important topic both at the exhibition and the conference programs.
As the leading medical trade fair for the Indian healthcare sector, MEDICAL FAIR INDIA attracted health-tech companies, hospital owners, physicians, hospital administration executives and staff as well as physiotherapists, visitors with medical and pharmaceutical education, investors and innovation specialists from four continents.
In addition to digital and mobile health innovations, MEDICAL FAIR INDIA 2020 featured medical products and medical device technology, laboratory technology and diagnostics as well as furniture for clinics and health facilities.
“For years, digital innovations have been playing an increasingly important role in the medical sector. That's why our trade fair was also held under this motto. We also want to offer smaller hospitals and medical institutions the opportunity to exchange ideas and thus organize smart”, explained Thomas Schlitt, Managing Director of the organizer Messe Düsseldorf India.
The positive atmosphere in the exhibition halls was reflected in the general assessment of the industry’s development. “We have noticed in recent weeks that the world is increasingly perceiving India as a second source of supply for medical devices besides China,” said Rajiv Nath, founder and coordinator of the Forum of the Association of Indian Medical Device Industry (AIMED) and partner of the MAKE IN INDIA pavilion.
Future Market India
As a networking platform MEDICAL FAIR INDIA offers particularly foreign companies the opportunity to enter the Indian healthcare market which has posted remarkable growth rates over the past two decades. “India continues to be among the most attractive growth markets worldwide. According to estimates, it is expected to become the world’s second largest economy ahead of the U.S. by 2030,” stated Franziska Kindervater, Director South Asia of
Thüringen International, an association represented with a joint Thuringia stand at MEDICAL FAIR INDIA. “In addition to sales opportunities for medical device technology and life sciences the Indian market holds great potential for such industries as laser and optics, mechanical and plant engineering, automotive, aviation and aerospace.”
Future for Health (FTR4H)
Whether panel discussions, fireside chats, live presentations or start-up pavilion: the international conference platform "Future for Health (FTR4H)", established within the framework of MEDICAL FAIR INDIA, was dedicated to current digital health trends and innovations with a variety of dialogue formats. In addition, together with the initiative “Center of Excellence for IoT & AI in Indi”, awards were given to start-ups which presented their innovative healthcare solutions. With the initiative of the IT industry association NASCCOM, Messe Düsseldorf India had a renowned “digital transformation partner” for the FTR4H platform.
Other highlights of the MEDICAL FAIR INDIA ancillary program included the 5th International Health Conference of Voice of Healthcare (VOH), where the latest technology trends as well as aspects of international cooperation between manufacturers and institutions were discussed, and CLIN LAB INDIA, a conference with exhibition on trending themes in lab medicine, organized in cooperation with Scherago (U.S.) and Health Care Events (India).
rehaindia, powered by REHACARE, complemented the MEDICAL FAIR INDIA product categories with offers from the rehabilitation sector. “With the three-day event, this is the second time we have contributed our know-how from REHACARE, the leading international trade fair for care and rehabilitation, as this market is gaining in importance in India”, added Thomas Schlitt.
The next MEDICAL FAIR INDIA will be held at the Pragati Maidan Exhibition Center in New Delhi from February 25 - 27, 2021.
