Perfectly working hygiene concept and rising popularity of caravanning as a form of vacation result in very good sales numbers
After the first half of CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF, the leading international trade fair for caravanning and camping, (September 4 – 13, 2020 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany), organizers and exhibitors draw an extremely positive interim conclusion. Stefan Koschke, Director of CARAVAN SALON Düsseldorf, said: “We are very satisfied with the results so far and have succeeded in welcoming about 65,000 caravanning fans until the end of Wednesday. We are delighted to see our hygiene concept working so outstandingly well and the behavior rules being accepted by visitors without problems. The atmosphere in the halls is excellent and we are particularly happy about the accomplished re-start of the trade fair business.”
A very high percentage of first-time visitors has been registered at 42%. “This shows that caravanning as a form of vacationing has become even more popular. Many of these “newbies” visited the StarterWorld Forum in Hall 11 in order to seek advice about the various types of vehicles, the handling of accessories and the right choice of travel routes and campsites,” commented Koschke. Many visitors were also interested in the special show “Caravanning & Bike” – demonstrating how well leisure vehicles and bicycles, e-bikes and motorcycles fit together.
At CARAVAN SALON, about 350 exhibitors will present motorhomes and caravans of all sizes and price categories plus base vehicles, accessories, technical equipment, detachable parts, tents/awnings, mobile homes, campsites, RV parks and travel destinations in 10 halls and on the outdoor spaces until September 13. Admission tickets can exclusively be purchased online at www.caravan-salon.com. There are still tickets available for all remaining trade fair days.
The excellent mood in the caravanning industry was confirmed during the first five days of the trade fair. This is also reflected by a survey of the Caravaning Industrie Verband e.V. (CIVD) among its exhibiting members.
Three quarters of caravan producers state that they have concluded more sales deals than in the previous year. The remaining 25% report sales on last year’s record levels. Just as positive: these top results are evident across the entire caravan product range. For motor homes as many as 86% of the exhibitors said they signed more deals than in 2019, with the remainder reporting results at the outstanding 2019 level so far. All vehicle classes have benefited, with compact vehicles doing particularly well.
“Our respect and thanks go to the trade fair company, the exhibitors and also the visitors, who together implemented the hygiene concept in an excellent way. Larger areas and fewer visitors also mean a more relaxed atmosphere. This positively impacts consulting conversations and sales. The people coming here show an exceptionally high interest in buying. They are also noticeably younger and include a particularly a high number of newcomers. Caravanning has been trending for quite a while now and the safety of individual and self-sufficient travel means that this form of vacation currently has a strong additional appeal. We are optimistic for the second half of the fair," stated CIVD Managing Director Daniel Onggowinarso
